CRSolver is a hands-on, interactive, graphical program which creates conformal maps (maps which accurately portray angles).  The current mapping is displayed using "latitude" and "longitude" lines, and while the program is running, these lines evolve so as to make the map closer to a conformal one.

  19. Most everything can be directly manipulated while the program is running.  The current mapping can be altered by dragging with the mouse, as can the shape of any boundary constraints.  The solution rate parameter is adjusted with slider.

I have been using this application to test a new geometrically natural numerical method for solving the Cauchy-Riemann equations.  The Cauchy-Riemann equations are the mathematical equations which determine conformal maps, and they are an interesting example of an elliptic system of partial differential equations.
